Our zeitgeist is RETRO: Fashion history is always there, just under the surface. Everything old is new again.
Circa Sixty Three draws inspiration from the modern classics of the 20th century. The vivid colors and radical geometric shapes of the 1960s are literally recycled in our jewelry. In late 2008 Circa Sixty Three purchased over eight tons of vintage Lucite dead stock. The dead stock includes loose beads, jewelry parts, and bangles that were made in Providence, Rhode Island throughout the ‘60s and ‘70s.
Circa Sixty Three also offers a wide range of vintage shoes from the estate of designer Joseph LaRose of Florida. LaRose shoes can be found in the private collections of important designers all over the world.
Circa Sixty Three recently returned to the Washington DC Metro area from Jacksonville Florida. All the jewelry is made by hand at the Hyattsville, MD studio.
Danielle Insetta started making jewelry in her DC apartment In 2005. In 2007, she left a career in Finance for Fashion. In late 2008 after "closing the deal" on 8 TONS of vintage beads, Insetta set up a workshop studio. She launched Circa Sixty Three in the Fall 2009 with the debut of her Sci-Fi inspired "Frontier" collection.
Insetta holds a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy and the History of Mathematics from St. John's College in Annapolis MD.
In early 2014, Circa Sixty Three collaborated with Japanese department store Isetan for “DECADE” an ongoing project based on iconic designs of the 60s and 70s.
In December 2014, Circa Sixty Three participated in "Cult Collective," Pop Up Shop at Art Basil Miami curated by Danny Santiago, contributing editor Vogue Italia.
Circa Sixty Three jewelry has been featured in music videos and film including the video "Party" by Beyonce and Marvel's Iron Man 3 "Caged Heat."
Over the past few years we have worked with several designers for runway including Ingram Talley, Harlem Fashion Row honoree for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week NY at Lincoln Center and Mercedes Benz Swim Week Miami for swimsuit designer Red Carter and Lycra.
